If you thought that the eighth installment from the Fast and Furious franchise couldn't possibly match any of the previous films, you would be very wrong. Not only did The Fate of the Furious break open to huge numbers in the United States, but it broke records worldwide. As of Saturday, the movie has pulled in an estimated $532.5 million worldwide, that's $3.5 million more than previous record holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
While the numbers are looking great for Fast 8, it should be noted that the domestic box office is coming in at just over $100 million which is below the last installment, Furious 7, which brought home $147 million it's opening weekend.
As a whole, the Fast and Furious franchise has made over $4 billion worldwide which puts them in elite company with the likes of the Batman and Harry Potter franchise.
