For those who are not familiar with Cyhi The Prynce, here’s a brief history. Majority of fans of Hip-Hop heard him on Kanye West “So Appalled” with his standout verse that featured Jay-Z, Pusha T, Swizz Beatz and RZA, off “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” album in 2010. He later signed to Kanyes label G.O.O.D. Music, he began to help bring inspiration to Kanyes last few albums, which includes his collaboration with Jay-Z “Watch The Throne” “Yeezus” and “The Life Of Pablo”. Cyhi began to release his own series of mixtapes “Royal Flush” “Jack Of All Trades” and his “Ivy League” series. Many of his work have slept under the radar until he went on Sway In The Morning and perform 3 songs from his now CLASSIC mixtape “Black Hystori Project”. In that same performance Rev Run from legendary group RUN DMC witnessed Cyhi performed his heart out and gave him credit as one of the best MCs he have heard in some time.
Last couple years Cyhi has not been releasing any project but he has been doing the “Team Backpack” Cyphers. Everyone from G.O.O.D. Music has drop their albums, some artist are on their 3rd and 4th albums and Cyhi has been waiting, collecting writing credits and Grammys from his work on Kanyes albums.
Now it’s the time for Cyhi debut album that he titled “No Dope On Sunday”, gearing up for the release this summer he dropped “Legend” and “Nu Africa”. “Legend” is a onslaught of dope metaphors, wordplay and punchlines. “Nu Africa” is a concept that since African Americans are doing so well in the United States that they should go back to the motherland and start a new one called “Nu Africa”
He raps in the 1st verse,
“Imagine if all the rappers were
To get with all the athletes or activists and actors for
A conference in Zaire to meet with all the ambassadors
In the motherland, tell 'em we comin' back for her
America know if we leave, it'd be a massacre
Zimbabwe would be full of drug dealers and traffickers
Smokin' grass, a cut, pick all the hoes from Magic up
Tell Tabitha, let a nigga Cleopatra her
So we can build a neighborhood out in Zambia
Tell Khaled to build another one in Tanzania
What if Jay and Bey went and bought some land in Egypt?
And Puffy put a stripper club off the sands of Kenya?”
As of today Cyhi made his way back to Sway In The Morning and freestyled on a segment called “5 Fingers Of Death” Cyhi kills it and Sway goes crazy. At the end Cyhi says he’s the “Best Rapper Alive”
How can you argue with bars like…
“You never made the seaweed
Disappear like Whodini
4lbs 8oz just sold my homie a preemie”
“Why would I ever slang dope?
Here to destroy the game, guess me and Yachty in the same Boat”
“Flow So under the weather
That it should come with umbrellas”
