It's safe to say that Monday (June 12) was a good day for legendary rapper and actor Ice Cube. After 30 years in the business, Ice Cube finally got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
During the ceremony for the unveiling of the star, a few close friends spoke about Ice Cube including Boyz In The Hood director, John Singleton. “The mark of a true man is how many people he influences in his lifetime,” Singleton said. “That’s how I see Cube.” Dr. Dre was also on hand for the ceremony.
While accepting his plaque, Ice Cube sent thanks to all the people that were involved in shaping his career. “You don’t get here by yourself,” he said. “Today is not really about Ice Cube. It’s about all the people that helped me get here.”
Ice Cube’s Walk of Fame ceremony comes only three days after the release of the 25th anniversary edition of the rapper’s politically-charged album, Death Certificate. Coincidentally, it is only three days before his 48th birthday.
