Bump J was released from federal prison today, Bump did a 7 year bid for robbing a bank. For those that don’t know or totally forgot who he is, let me refresh your memory. Bump J made a name for himself by putting in work in the mixtape scene back in the early/mid 2000s with his street sound. Bump dropped countless solid and classic projects with “Welcome To Grimeyville” series “Welcome To Bedrock” and “Introduction Of A Gangsta”, "Dinner Time". Atlantic Records signed Bump and he started working on his debut album “Nothing To Lose” with the leading single “Move Around” prod. By Kanye West that landed him a McDonald's commercial, also he released a “Gangsta Grillz” mixtape with DJ Drama called “Chicagorilla” but with label issues his album was never released officially. “Nothing To Lose” was uploaded to Datpiff mixtape website anyway, with features from Shawnna, John Legend, Twista, Jagged Edged, Rick James and his Goon Squad member Sly Polaroid.
In my opinion he created a lane for all street Chicago rappers that came up once he went to prison. I believe he’ll have no problem adjusting to the new sound and honestly if you a fan like me, then you can’t wait to see the grown up OG talk from Bump J.
Here's are a few songs from The Chief Of Chicago to vibe too.
